Flower Farming Intensive – Session III
Join us for a jam packed three-day farming intensive at Floret Flower Farm in Washington’s beautiful Skagit Valley May 19, 20 & 21, 2017.
Created especially for beginning and aspiring flower farmers, Floret’s Flower Farming Intensive workshop focuses on small scale, high intensity flower production, planning, goal setting and basic floral design techniques. Participants will learn firsthand the secrets to growing and operating a successful, profitable flower farm.
Normally closed to the public, participants will have exclusive access to Floret’s fields and greenhouses to select from dozens of varieties of organic flowers and foliage.
May is a special month in the garden and boasts some of the season’s most vibrant blooms including ranunculus, foxglove, biennials and sweet peas. These magical blooms will be used on the third day of the workshop where you’ll create a hand-tied bouquet and an abundant centerpiece in the beautifully restored historic barn at A. J. Johnson Farm.
Over the course of the workshop, participants will have the opportunity to get their hands dirty by participating in farm tasks and learning advanced techniques to growing great seasonal flowers. We’ll discuss the essential aspects of operating a successful cut flower farm, from seed starting and plant propagation, to season extension, crop planning, variety selection and succession planting. We’ll show you our favorite tools and share all of our timesaving tips and efficiencies to save you years of wasted time and money.
