Farm Field Crew Member 

Employment type: Full-time, year-round
Expected hire date: Immediately
Compensation: Hourly, dependent on experience

We are so excited to announce that we’re hiring! Our small but mighty team is looking for a Farm Field Crew Member who is ready and willing to roll up their sleeves and get to work. This is not a typical job environment. This is a fast-paced, bustling farm environment and everyone is expected to go above and beyond, no matter the task. At Floret, everyone’s job description is diverse and ever changing, but we work together as a tight knit team to reach big goals and make the world a more beautiful place through flowers. We are looking for someone who is positive, motivated, energetic, hardworking, and ready to hit the ground running.

Floret is a small flower farm and seed company in Skagit Valley with a focus on research and education. Additionally, we maintain several acres of mixed berries, fruit trees, diverse hedgerows, and large flower gardens. This job includes a wide range of farm tasks in a fast paced environment that support the preparation, propagation, production, and maintenance of the fields and greenhouses of seed crops as well as established gardens. This position is year-round, physically demanding work that is largely outdoors in all types of weather. Schedule is Monday–Friday, 8–10 hours/day, with occasional Saturdays required.

Job responsibilities include:

  • Diverse crop, garden, and orchard planting and maintenance
  • Irrigation installation and repair
  • Infrastructure maintenance including hoophouses and greenhouses
  • Tractor and light equipment work such as rototiller, lawnmower, and weedeater
  • Seed packing and order fulfillment during winter months
  • Greenhouse work including sanitizing seed trays, filling seed trays, seeding, and watering
  • Transplanting and weeding crops in hoophouses and field
  • Harvesting and cleaning seed
  • Washing buckets, trucks, and cleaning up facilities 
  • Maintaining a clean and tidy workplace 
  • Other duties as assigned

Required qualifications: 

  • Physical strength and stamina are necessary to perform this job
  • Strong work ethic
  • Ability to work independently 
  • Must be a positive team player and have a great sense of humor
  • Open minded and inclusive of all walks of life
  • Efficient and fast paced 
  • Able to take direction, learn systems, and see all tasks through to completion 
  • At least 1 year of farm work, row crop, and/or landscaping experience 
  • General handiness and ability to operate power tools and hand tools safely 
  • Able to lift 50+ lbs 

Preferred qualifications:

  • Ability to independently and safely operate farm equipment, including tractors and implements 
  • 3 years of farm work and/or row crop experience 
  • Bi-lingual English/Spanish
