Shop Lead

Employment type

Full-time, 40 hours weekly, onsite in Mount Vernon, WA

General description

The shop lead will help to support Floret’s online shop and seed company using Shopify, Shipstation, and email. This position will ensure that all of the orders leaving the Floret Shop are fulfilled with the highest level of accuracy, detail, and care. The shop lead will manage customer service and order-related emails (including returns, complaints, order delays, etc), and help direct customers to our many growing-related resources. 

The ideal candidate is a self-starter with excellent judgment who is able to set their own priorities while also working through an established set of tasks each day. They enjoy working independently and are comfortable reaching out for help or clarity when needed. This position will require being able to work on multiple projects at a time, switching focus as priorities change and issues arise. A calm demeanor and solution-oriented attitude are a must. 

Job responsibilities

  • Respond to customer emails in a timely and professional manner 
  • Manage order returns, corrections, and replacements
  • Order, receive, and inventory supply shipments 
  • Conduct regular seed and supply inventory checks 
  • Pack and ship a wide range of product orders on a daily basis  
  • Coordinate daily pickups with mail carriers (USPS, DHL, etc.)
  • Audit outgoing orders for accuracy and quality 
  • Assist in the organization, set up, and oversight of order fulfillment during busy shipping times
  • Maintain a clean and organized warehouse to ensure maximum efficiency 
  • Coordinate claims for lost packages with shipping carriers
  • Support detail-oriented seasonal projects as they arise 

Required qualifications

  • Must be efficient, detail-oriented, and fast-paced 
  • Clear, concise, and responsive communication skills 
  • A good grasp of the English language particularly grammar, spelling, and punctuation
  • Ability to work independently on multiple projects at one time
  • Must be dependable and able to work in person in a warehouse/farm environment
  • Ability to take critical feedback and have a high level of personal responsibility and follow-through 
  • Ability to be on your feet all day and lift 50 lbs. 
  • Must be open-minded and inclusive of all walks of life

Preferred qualifications

  • Customer service email experience
  • Shopify experience
  • Shipstation experience
  • Google Suite experience

Technical Assistant

Employment type 

Full-time, 32–40 hours weekly, remote (Pacific time zone)

General description

The technical assistant will help to support all of Floret’s digital assets, including WordPress, Shopify, and Kajabi sites, ActiveCampaign email service, and other online platforms. This position will ensure that all of the technical and administrative tasks related to Floret’s marketing, communication, and education projects are planned, managed, and executed with the highest level of accuracy, detail, and care. This person will need to be extremely detail-oriented, organized, and efficient, plus love all things related to tech.  

The ideal candidate will love working through a set process and task lists to complete work. They should enjoy working independently and be comfortable reaching out for help or clarity when needed. This position will require being able to work on multiple projects at a time, switching focus as priorities change and issues arise. A calm demeanor and solution-oriented attitude are a must. 

Job responsibilities

  • Assist Team Floret with delivering the technical aspects of the Floret Online Workshop and other educational programs and materials (mini courses, lead magnets, e-books, etc.)
  • Help to update and maintain Floret’s WordPress and Shopify websites and regularly make updates to the home pages, flash headers, opt-in forms, sidebars, featured products, FAQ page, blog, Farmer-Florist Collective directory, etc. per Team Floret’s direction
  • Create, set up, and test ActiveCampaign automations, campaigns, segments, tags, and forms
  • Create and test Kajabi landing pages, forms, products, and communities
  • Manage and update ActiveCampaign and Kajabi user accounts
  • Troubleshoot minor tech-related issues across Floret apps, websites, and email platforms (this includes helping our customers and workshop students with tech-related issues)
  • Create and track weekly and monthly digital analytics (websites, marketing campaigns, social, newsletter, and list growth)
  • Create and maintain Google Analytics campaigns and goals, plus related UTMs
  • Support digital compliance (GDPR/affiliates/accessibility) 
  • Coordinate the collection and organization of Floret Scholarship applications and workshop student information forms
  • Create and assist with forms, surveys, and compiling related reports
  • Help to document, organize, and maintain digital marketing copy
  • Support the Creative Director, Director of Marketing & Customer Experience, and Production Director as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

Required qualifications

  • WordPress and/or Shopify website experience 
  • Google Suite proficiency
  • Digital marketing analytics experience (Google Analytics)
  • At least 1 year of technical experience working closely to support a creative/marketing team
  • Process-oriented with the ability to take direction, receive critical feedback, learn new systems, see all tasks through to completion, and have a high level of personal accountability
  • Must be efficient, detail-oriented, and fast-paced 
  • Ability to work independently/remotely (Pacific time zone) and on multiple projects at once

Research Assistant

Employment type

General description

The research assistant will help to support Floret’s educational programs and ongoing research projects using Adobe Lightroom, Google sheets, and an SQL-based database. This position will ensure that all plant and farm records are organized, accurate, and up to date. This person will need to be able to organize a vast amount of information in an efficient manner. 

The ideal candidate will have a strong working knowledge of plants, be an expert in databases and spreadsheets, love turning chaos into order, and fine-tuning everything they come across. The job will require handling a lot of moving parts at a quick pace, being comfortable working outdoors in all types of weather, and being able to sit and do work at the computer for long stretches of time. An extremely high level of detail and a strong sense of personal responsibility are a must. 

Job responsibilities

  • Record and organize plant data (historical and current)
  • Catalog and keyword photos (historical and current)
  • Transcribe handwritten field notes
  • Research plant data and fact check information across multiple sources
  • Assist with plant inventory and keeping varieties and quantities current and up to date
  • Prepare and organize records in advance of large planting projects
  • On-farm tasks such as identifying and labeling plants, measuring plant height, recording flowering/fruiting times, etc.
  • Other duties and projects as assigned

Required qualifications

  • Microsoft Excel/Google Sheets expert 
  • Background in horticulture or a strong working knowledge of plants and scientific names; ability to identify plants and record specific data
  • Technically proficient
  • Strong writing/proofreading skills
  • Must be dependable and able to work in person on the farm
  • Able to take direction and critical feedback, learn new systems, and see all tasks through to completion 
  • Able to work independently and with strong follow-through
  • Able to complete monotonous tasks; not easily bored
  • Must be a positive, open-minded, yes-first team player
  • Efficient, detail-oriented, and fast-paced 

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience working on a farm or in an agriculture-related field
  • Experience working in Adobe Lightroom
  • Experience working in a SQL-based database
