Since there are few flowers to tend to at this time of year, I’ve been turning my attention to one of my other pet projects: business planning. It may sound geeky, but I secretly like reading a good business development book *almost* as much as a garden book. Dreaming up all the exciting possibilities for the future of Floret is always on my mind, but no time more than this time of year when I dig into my annual process of planning and plotting the months ahead. Earlier this week, I put together a few posts summarizing highlights from 2015 and sharing a preview of what’s ahead for Floret in 2016.
Also this week, Design*Sponge published the first of a three-part series of articles I authored for their Life and Business column. This influential design blog, described by the New York Times as “Martha Stewart Living for Milennials,” churns out a glorious stream of inspiring interior design ideas, loads of new ideas for your next DIY project, and interesting features on artists, creatives, designers, and makers.
In my first post, Being the Face of Your Business, I share some of the difficulties I faced during Floret’s first few years and the key changes I made to turn things around in terms of communicating my business and my brand. Next week’s post will cover strategies for building your team as your business grows, and for the last post in this series for Design*Sponge, I’ll share some tips on using social media efficiently and effectively. All of these posts include insights and advice that can be applied to many small businesses–especially those involved in the creative sphere. Have you seen the Design*Sponge post(s) yet? Pop over to their site to take a peek!
Next week is another big week for us here at Floret. Tuesday at 9 a.m. PST is the OFFICIAL launch of the new line of Floret Seeds! Over the course of the week, I’ll be dedicating space here on the blog to bringing you the backstory on how it came to be plus an in-depth look at some of the great new varieties. Get ready! Newsletter subscribers will get some special offers in their inbox bright and early on Tuesday, so if you aren’t on the list yet, be sure to subscribe. Have a great weekend.
