#AYearInFlowers Weeks 25 -27

Written by
Floret

I can’t believe it has been so long since I last made my #ayearinflowers bouquet! The past few weeks have been a crazy blur of travel (2 weeks in England), some big dreams finally being realized (I’ll share more soon) and being on the homestretch with the flower arranging book, A Year in Flowers.

A Year in Flowers Week 27

I felt a little rusty after such a long break but it’s nice to be back at it. This bouquet includes: Pansy Chanti Mix and Brush Strokes, Rose Ambridge, Goats Beard, Blueberries, Snapdragon Twinny Peach, Yarrow Summer Berries, Heuchera, Foxglove obscura Sunset and a mystery grass.

A year in Flowers

The goal of this community-driven project is to highlight what’s blooming in gardens across the globe each week.

How to participate in #AYearInFlowers

1) Capture.

Take a photo of flowers that are in season in your area, whether it is a fistful of flowers from your backyard or a bouquet from your local farmers market.

2) Post.

On Instagram, upload your photo and tag it with #AYearInFlowers;

On Facebook, upload your photo as a comment under my weekly post.

3) Share.

In your photo caption, please share what flowers are featured (if you know them) along with your location and date. Bonus points for listing your USDA hardiness zone and week number (i.e. #week27flowers)

Here are some long overdue submissions from other flower lovers the last few weeks:

Features from Week 25

In Barrington, Illinois:
“Our first week as a new business selling cut flowers that I grow in Barrington, IL at the Lake Zurich Flowers Market. I brought 400 peonies- 10 different varieties. It was well received.” By Linda Matos Powers

In Monmouthshire, South Wales:

“These all grown on my flower farm in Monmouthshire, South Wales and cut in the second week of June 2019. A wet, soggy month and not at all as we would have hoped. Still, the flowers don’t seem to mind. The bouquet contains artichoke -fruit and leaves, roses, galega, eucalyptus, briza maxima, physocarpus, peonies – Sarah Bernhart, sweet peas and antirrhinums.” By Justine Scouller

In Berkeley, California:

Features from Week 26

In Lopez Island, Washington:

In Greensboro, North Carolina:

Features from Week 27

From Lisa Nielson, over on Facebook.
“Had family in town, so I enlisted the help of my nieces and nephews in the garden! Got to start them young!! Our dahlias are starting to go crazy here in the Bay Area! We are zone 9b.”

In Panton, Vermont:

In Hilo, Hawaii:

In Central Arkansas:

A note about week numbers: week numbers are commonly used in the floriculture industry and are standardized across the years. Even though we’ve been doing #AYearInFlowers posts for a while now, this is the 27th week of the year.

By using the #week27flowers hashtag on Instagram, you can sort photos by what’s in bloom this week all around the world. In addition, week numbers allow you to compare what’s blooming in your own garden from year to year.

Early next week, I’ll be posting my week 28 flowers to social media. If you’re participating on Instagram, please add the #week28flowers and #AYearInFlowers hashtags to your caption. Be sure to also include your zone and where you’re located in the caption.

Thanks for playing along!
