Seasonal Flower Alliance: August 1

I haven’t been very good at taking the time to step off the to-do list treadmill to make something beautiful from the garden on a regular basis. If we have a workshop or a wedding, no problem. But when it comes to creating, just for myself, I’ve been finding a lot of excuses this season.

Well, this weekend with no pressing plans, I was able to head into the garden for a little soul recharge. I always forget just how relaxing it is to just wander, without an agenda, or a plan, looking to nature for inspiration. If you haven’t done it lately, trust me, it’s worth the extra effort.

This beauty was 100% garden grown and includes: copper beech, zinnias, elderberry foliage and fruit, crabapples, dahlias, roses, foxglove, coreopsis, tomatoes and heuchera foliage and flowers.

Every time we’re shooting, our kitty Phoenix photobombs the shot. I have sooo many pictures of her in the corners of images, it’s not even funny. So I thought I’d pick a a few of my favorite submissions from the past week with critters making a debut along with the bouquets.

What’s in bloom where you live? Join in the flowery fun by sharing a photo over on Instagram as part of the Seasonal Flower Alliance.  Here’s how it works:

1) Snap.  Take a photo of flowers that are in season in your area, whether it is a fistful of blooms from your garden or a vase full of flowers from your local farmers market–it doesn’t have to be fancy!
2) Tag.  Upload your photo to Instagram with the hashtag #SeasonalFlowerAlliance.
3) Share.  In your photo caption, please share what flower varieties are featured (if you know them) along with your location and/or USDA hardiness zone.

It’s a fun way to see what’s in season both here and abroad!

Just found your site through country living….adding you to my blog feed. What a beautiful arrangement you made! It is so hard to get beautiful flowers in my area….so I will be coming to your blog to dream.
    Thanks for sharing.
